Mr. Marvin L. Jones, age 61, of Providence, Rhode Island, formerly of Moyock, NC, departed peacefully on June 4, 2012. Born on December 7, 1950 in Moyock, NC to the late Ethel and Ralph Jones, Sr. Marvin graduated from Joseph P. Knapp High School.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at New Christian Home Missionary Baptist Church, Moyock, NC.
Marvin moved to Los Angeles, CA and worked with the office of The Good Sheppard Center, where he became the director of the Agency's Modeling School Program, he taught many students how to model. Marvin relocated to Atlanta, GA and began his career with AT&T Communications and late retired from the company.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel I. Whitehurst.
Marvin will especially be remembered for his quick wit, spirit for adventure and a World Traveler on many countries. He married Debra Sebastian Jones and they had one daughter: Melissa Jones Ross. He leaves to mourn daughter, Melissa Ross (Charles Jr.) of Yorktown, VA; a son, Cartey B. Leigh of Powells Point, NC; two grandchildren, Charles III and Jada Ross of Yorktown, VA; sisters, Evelyn Henley (Jackie) of Moyock, NC, Shelby Darlene Hosein (Ansil Sr) of Ocala, FL. Kathy Babb of Providence, R.I. Brothers, Ralph Jones, Jr (Erline) and Earl Jones (Betty) both of Moyock, NC; Clinton Jones (Virginia) of Providence, R.I.; brother-in-law; Roosevelt Whitehurst, Sr. of Edgewood, MD; Aunts, Ruby Jones of Portsmouth, VA., Mary Cowell of Barco, NC; uncle; Josephus Jones of Moyock, NC and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, extended family and friends. Rivers Community Funeral Home is expressing sympathy through sincere service to the Jones family.
